Abstract

Objective To evaluate toxicology and safety of the Zaoshen capsule. Methods Toxicological evaluations were performed by using acute toxicity test, bone marrow cell micronucleus test, mice teratospermia test, Ames test and 30-day feeding test in the study, in accordance with the procedures of food toxicological assessment. Results (1) Oral acute toxicity test showed that LD50 of the Zaoshen capsule was more than 15.0 g/kg. (2) Results of Ames test, micronucleus test of bone marrow cells and teratospermia test were all negative. (3) Neither toxic effects nor cumulative toxic effects could be observed in the 30 days feeding test. Conclusions Results showed that the Zaoshen capsule is of non-toxic products, with no mutagenesis, genetic toxicity and obviously dominant cumulative toxicity in the body.
