Abstract

A method is described for the toxicological determination in biological material of the cis- and trans-isomers of doxepin by gas chromatography, using an alkali flame ionization detector, and of the doxepin metabolites, demothyldoxepin and doxepin-N-oxide, by gas chromatography-mass fragmentography. In both procedures dihydrocodeine has been employed as an internal standard. Both electron impact and chemical ionization mass spectra of the compounds mentioned have been recorded, and a discussion of these spectra is given.
