Abstract
Toxicities of phenol and 5 chlorophenols have been measured using the freshwater protozoan Colpidium campylum bioassay. Results have been compared with different molecular descriptors frequently used in Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships studies. 3rd connectivity index (CI 3) was the best descriptor to evaluate toxicity on protozoan. A dualistic transformation of log Pow and CI 3 allowed us to situate Colpidium campylum sensibility in comparison with 11 other species.
