Abstract

Toxic shock syndrome was observed in the postoperative period in a patient who underwent carbon dioxide laser treatment of genital condyloma acuminatum. Laser vaporization of the vagina produces areas of denuded mucosa. These areas may act as the portal of entry for staphylococcal toxins producing toxic shock syndrome.
