Abstract
Abstract : A facility was designed and constructed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for the specific purpose of conducting inhalation toxicology research. This facility is unique in that it has considerable functional variability and may be used for the study of space cabin toxicity under altitude and 100% oxygen conditions. Additionally, the laboratory was designed for use as a standard inhalation toxicology laboratory for the study of Air Force materials which may constitute a hazard to ground support personnel. This report describes the design and functional capability of the Toxic Hazards Research Unit laboratory which became operational in September of 1964. Toxicology research of the nature described has been initiated and will be reported upon as individual experiments are completed.
