Abstract

In June 2015, the US Supreme Court, in its Obergefell v. Hodges ruling, legalized same-sex marriage. Despite some recent evolutions on the issue, such step has not been taken yet by the European Court of Human Rights. The paper investigates if and how the US case law may constitute a decisive source of inspiration for the recognition of a European right to homosexual marriage.
