Abstract

The stability constants of the cationic complexes ML+, where M+= Li+, Na+, H3O+, Ag+, K+, NH4+, Tl+, Rb+, Cs+; and L = calix[4]crown ethers in nitrobenzene saturated with water were determined on the basis of the experimental distribution ratios of these cations. The organic phases of the studied solvent extraction systems were nitrobenzene solutions of the calix[4]crown ether ligands and the lipophilic dicarbollylcobaltate anion. Very high selectivities of the separation of the K/Na, Rb/Na and Cs/Na pairs are anticipated in these systems.
