Abstract

Summary Present work deals with the modeling of syntaxial overgrowth quartz cementation in sandstones in three-dimensions. For this purpose, we adapted and calibrated a spatio-temporal multiphase-field model. The generated data sets in the simulations were post-processed to analyze the impact of quartz cementation and polycrystallinity of detrital quartz grains on the dynamic relationships between porosity, permeability and cement volumes, as the sandstones are progressively cemented.
