Abstract
We demonstrate the spectral broadening of an octave-spanning erbium-based frequency comb in two types of periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguides. Spectral peaks in the broadened comb are observed at wavelengths that fulfill the phase-matching conditions designed for the waveguides. We found that an appropriately designed PPLN waveguide should enable the generation of the comb spectrum in the short-wavelength visible region.
