Abstract

Recently ultra fast diagnostic techniques have been developed to investigate imploded core plasma of shell-cone target for fast ignition in laser fusion research. One and two dimensional x-ray image sampling and two dimensional image reconstruction techniques have been applied to x-ray streak cameras. Multi-imaging x-ray streak(MIXS) camera, sampling image x-ray streak camera and multichannels MIXS camera employing pinholes and pinhole arrays coupled with x-ray streak camera were used in implosion experiment of a shell target with a cone. The reconstructed 2D images have shown the different evolutions of core plasmas for all kinds of cases. The interaction between the core plasma and the tip of the cone was observed and revealed some detailed structures. The time-resolved plasma temperature has been derived from the McMIXS's image.
