Abstract

Purpose: We aimed to set the first steps to develop diagnostic criteria for early hip OA, based on a set of predefined clinical and radiographic factors, in patients aged 45-65 who consulted their general practitioner (GP) for the first time for hip complaints suggestive of hip OA. The gold standard outcome measure was an expert based diagnosis of clinically relevant hip OA 5 to 10 years after first presentation. As the set of predicting factors were collected at first consultation, obtained criteria should be seen as early diagnostic criteria.
