Abstract

Abstract The paper examines existing international copyright regulations, in general and as applied to the European Commission (EC) and its Member States. A summary of the more important copyright conventions is given, which is followed by a detailed analysis of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) Trade‐related (TRIPs) agreement copyright provisions, and the continuing influence of the copyright conventions upon them. The effect of these copyright regulations in relation to the European Economic Community, EC Directives, and EC cultural Intellectual Property Rights protectionism is examined, prior to some concluding remarks.
