Abstract
At a time when special needs roles are under serious examination, it is interesting to see what is being considered in other countries. This article supports the long‐held conviction of this journal that we benefit greatly from looking at developments in other countries. The work in Queensland parallels much of our own experience but there are sufficient divergences to illuminate our current thinking.
