Abstract

The use of a low-power wake-up receiver (WUR) can significantly reduce the device’s energy consumption. To incorporate such WURs into existing communication systems, the waveform design needs to facilitate simple detection yet be compatible with the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission. In this letter, we propose a novel phase design for the wake-up signal (WUS) so that the time-domain distortion of the WUS can be minimized. A majorization-minimization (MM) method is proposed to address the waveform design problem. Simulations show that the proposed scheme can achieve a near-optimal detection performance under different system parameters.
