Abstract

A stochastic model based on the Capacitated Facility Location Allocation problem is developed to find the optimal Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network structure. Given the locations of the peers and their demand distributions in a grid space, the model finds the optimal points in the space to place the main servers (brokers) that facilitate the communication between the peers by offering them indexing and searching services for all the files in the space. Although the place of each peer is fixed, they may not be online all the time. Therefore, the demand distribution for each agent is specified probabilistically and the corresponding model is solved stochastically.
