Abstract

Yossi Beilin's The Death of the American Uncle adds a novel roadblock to the continuous public discourse between Jews and Jews. Among the array of stimuli to keep this discourse alive and the newly awakening efforts to provide practical proposals for affecting a seemingly troubling reality, Beilin's contribution has to do with its origin: an account proposed by a member of the Israeli grandsons' generation. This, in and of itself, should not be taken lightly as the theme of Israel Diaspora relations does not seem to be high on this generation's agenda in Israel.
