Abstract

The class of null Lagrangians is used to model inhomogeneous Neumann boundary data for elastic bodies that interact with electromagnetic fields in the presence of defects (dislocations and disclinations). The interface conditions of the various fields on the common boundary of two such bodies are studied, and the relations between the derivatives of null Lagrangians and corresponding quantities defined on the interface are derived. Explicit evaluations of the interface conditions, for a specific selected null Lagrangian, are given for an elastoelectromagnetic material with and without defects. Loading devices for the application of boundary tractions are also defined for elastic materials.
