Abstract

During his tenure in the House of Commons as critic of Liberal cultural policy, Progressive Conservative MP David MacDonald spoke about the need to establish priorities in the cultural field. Now that MacDonald is in a position to put his ideas into effect—he is the new Secretary of State—it seems an appropriate time to document some of his statements relating to the arts. The following remarks by MacDonald were made during the House budget debate last November 24th.
