Abstract
A rapid prototyping environment is designed to allow a system builder to quickly create a prototype of a system and experiment with it to determine what behavior the final version of the system should have. We have recently been extending the Explainable Expert Systems (EES) framework to support rapid prototyping of expert systems. In this paper, we outline a set of desirable qualities that a rapid prototyping system for expert systems should have and describe our effort to achieve them in EES. We then illustrate the benefits our framework provided in rapidly prototyping an expert system for diagnosing local area networks.
