Abstract

There is a certain vacation resort with which I am quite familiar. It is located in a former monastery picturesquely concealed in the greenery above a fast-flowing river. When you approach it you are seized by joyous anticipation. It is quiet, beautiful. The hustle and bustle that intrude without limit into everyday life are absent. Your imagination pictures the monks' cells, a spacious refectory, and mysterious cellars with all kinds of food. The tolling of the bells confirms the possibility that you might sample this exotic array. But the illusion is dispelled as soon as you go through the fence and see the courtyard solidly packed with tiny little plywood cabins all painted an identical green.
