Abstract
Abstract Jane Goodall – best known for her ground-breaking work on the chimpanzees of Gombe (Tanzania) – has been an influential thinker and writer about wildlife management for many decades. In this short paper, she identifies and summarises some of the critical factors that put wildlife at risk. Quoting from her experience, she illustrates graphically how tourism can either contribute positively to consumer attitudes and conservation efforts or else act as a disruptive, even destructive force.
