Abstract

This paper provides an analysis of the growing demand for outbound tourism from China and describes the special characteristics of the market. It analyses the significance of guanxi, the special relationship which underpins traditional Chinese business networks. The paper discusses opportunities for Australian inbound tour operators to improve the service they provide to visiting Chinese groups organised by Chinese travel agencies, and notes some problems requiring attention.
