Abstract

AbstractThis chapter addresses key regulations for tour operators based in the EU as well as recent changes in legislation in the Asia-Pacific Region relating to tour operators. The chapter discusses the law as it currently stands with respect to the following six aspects of the EU's Package Travel Regulations: the scope of the regulations; pre-departure changes; post-departure changes; liability under Regulation 15 for non-performance and under Regulation 4 for providing misleading information; the calculation of damages in the event of a breach of contract by the tour operator; and how tour operators must protect consumers against their insolvency.
