Tough Talk or Tough Love: Lynet and the Construction of Feminine Identity in Thomas Malory’s ‘Tale of Sir Gareth’

Scholarship on Malory’s Lynet tends to focus on her relationship with Gareth, and I argue that while Lynet strives to help nurture her knight in his quest, she also desires to control her own identity—which can only be achieved through the suppression of her name and other identifying features.
