Abstract

The memoirs of Alexander Lvovich Vernikovsky “The Hungarian campaign of 1849. Memoirs of an Army Officer” (1885) are well known among the researchers of the history of the Hungarian uprising (Hungarian revolution) in 1848–1849. The published letter of Vernikovsky, sent in 1880 to the General Staff, sheds light on the biography of this officer.
