Abstract
This paper gives guidelines for starting a Total Quality Management (TQM) programme using Organizational Development (OD) intervention techniques to gain acceptance of the programme. It emphasizes human behaviour and the need for collaborative management and consensus in organizational change. Lessons learned stress the importance of choosing a skilled TQP facilitator, training process action teams, and fostering open communication and teamwork to minimize resistance to change.
