The early results of 60 total hip replacements using the Charnley Low Friction Arthroplasty are reviewed. Two patients developed severe post-operative infection. All but 3 had no pain or only slight pain which did not interfere with their activities and there was good improvement in walking function in patients with no other joint involvement.
