Abstract
The high energy behavior for ·photon (meson) -nucleon total cross sections is studied from a combined viewpoint of the light-cone dominance and eN-data. It is shown that the high energy behavior is described by the contribution from the leading light-cone singu larities, if suitable scale-breaking masses are introduced. The scale-breaking masses are re garded as the effective quark masses characteristic of the kind of interacting fields. The effective quark mass for electromagnetic interaction is found to be the same as M/ /lp, where M and /lp are the mass and magnetic moment of a proton.
