Abstract

The additivity rule has been employed to obtain the total (the sum of elastic and absorption) cross sections for positron scattering by a number of molecules (O 2, CO, CO 2, SO 2, CS 2, OCS and SF 6) over an incident energy range of 100–500 eV. The present results have been compared with experimental data and other theoretical calculations wherever available and excellent agreement has been obtained.
