Abstract

The neutron spectrum from the Ta-target neutron source from the 46-MeV linac at the Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University is measured by the time-of-flight method. Bursts of fast neutrons were produced using the water-cooled photoneutron target made of Ta plates. Transmissions of neutron beam were measured by the /sup 6/Li glass scintillator located at the 22.13-m distance from the photoneutron target and background neutron was detected by BF/sub 3/ proportional counter. Neutron signals from detectors were transferred into fast amplifier, discriminator and analyzed in the 8191-channel analyzer which was operated as four 2048-channel analyzer. The neutron total cross section for dysprosium in the energy region 0.01 eV/spl square/10 keV was derived, and also compared with ENDF/B-/spl square/ and experimental data.
