Abstract

This research aimed to calculate the number of phsycotrophic bacteria of nile tilapia reared in increased water temperature. For this purpose, 12 nile tilapias with body weight of 35-40 g were randomly allotted into 2 treatments groups with 3 replications. Fish in group 1 (P1) was reared in normal temperature (29±1° C) and group II (P2) was reared in high water temperature (35±1 C). All fish were fed commercial diet 3 times a day for 21 consecutive days. T-test analysis revealed a significant decrease in number of psychotropic bacteria (P<0.01) in group P2. Total plate count (TPC) resulted in fish gills, intestinal, and muscle were 1.5×10³, 7.7x10³, and 9.7x10³ cfu/g respectively. In conclusion, increasing of water temperature reduce the number of phsycotrophic bacteria of nile tilapia.

Stres akibat peningkatan suhu air pada ikan berdampak terhadap performa dan kesehatan ikan berupa gangguan fungsi sel-sel darah (El-Sherif dan ElFeky, 2009). Hal ini disebabkan kelarutan oksigen dalam air dipengaruhi oleh suhu. Kebanyakan bakteri patogen ikan termasuk golongan Gram negatif, seperti Aeromonas sp., Pseudomonas sp., Flexibacter sp., dan Vibrio sp. Bakteri-bakteri ini hampir selalu ditemukan dan hidup di air kolam, di permukaan tubuh ikan, dan pada organorgan tubuh bagian dalam ikan. Pencegahan infeksi bakteri ini terletak pada pengelolaan kualitas air yang baik sehingga ikan terhindar dari stres. Ikan mas dan ikan nila sering terserang bakteri Aeromonas hydrophilla, Aeromonas salmonicida, dan Pseudomonas flourescens (Sari, 2011). Penyakit yang mewabah pada budidaya ikan nila di Jawa Barat dan beberapa pulau di Indonesia pada tahun-tahun belakangan ini adalah penyakit Streptococcosis yang disebabkan oleh Streptococcus agalactiae, S. agalactiae (Taukhid, 2009). Bakteri S. agalactiae termasuk Gram positif, motilitas dan oksidatif fermentatif positif, dan katalase negatif (Evans et al, 2006)
