Abstract

We shall describe an approved experiment [1] at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) Total and Differential Cross Sections and Polarization Effects in pp Elastic Scattering at RHIC, PP2PP experiment. By measuring single spin asymmetries such as AN, double spin correlation parameter ANN, and cross section difference ΔσT=σtot(↑,↓)−σtot(↑,↓), we will be able to determine the helicity amplitudes φi. Those amplitudes are not well known now, so their systematic study at RHIC will help to understand the spin structure of the nucleon and of the exchanged mediators of the force.
