Abstract

This article is an attempt to interpret the cultural and social changes taking place in the Polish-German border area in the third decade of the 21st century. A special area of research are the basic concepts that define cultural reality, which, in the author's opinion, require redefinition. The lack of adequate terminological and theoretical instruments that meet the criteria for an effective interpretation of cultural changes in the Polish-German border area is becoming noticeable. The following text also presents an attempt at some generalizations regarding culture as such, which, although they are directly related to the Polish-German borderland, and in particular to its central part, are an attempt to answer a slightly broader set of issues such as culture and its condition in the third decade of the 21st century.
