Abstract
This work gives exact solutions for the torsional vibration frequencies of symmetric variable and open cross-section bars. An analytical method is derived to form the dynamic stiffness matrix of the bar, including the effect of warping. An example is given and compared to approximate results. The effect of warping is demonstrated.
