Abstract

Abstract A relationship between OH group torsional (out-of-plane) frequencies (cm−1) and H-bonding energies (kcal/mole) has been recently reported [1]. In terms of (1) a χ (OH) frequency increas on H-bonding is due to an additive contribution of the OH…B angle bending force constant, the latter being proportional to H-bonding energy.
