Abstract

Summary Attention has been directed to the occurrence of torsion of the spermaticcord during the first day of life in two cases and terminating in loss of the testicle. In each instance, the twist occurred outside the tunica vaginalis. If the condition is recognized and detorsion can be performed during the first four hours, the testicle usually can be preserved. Diagnostic and therapeutic delay means loss of the organ.
