Abstract

1. In calculating the pure and bending torsion of thin-walled rods of the double-T and channel-bar type, strengthened with strips, it is essential to allow for the influence of local deformations. 2. The torsion of a thin-walled rod of open profile strengthened with strips may be calculated (allowing for the effect of deformation of the cross-sectional contour) by the method of Vlasov after introducing additional terms into the principal coefficients.
