Abstract

This paper explains the application of Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique to reduce torque and flux ripple in an induction motor employing Direct Torque Control (DTC). The effective time is determined using imaginary time vector, thereby the lengthy procedure of using reference voltage vector is eliminated, and also the sector identification and angle determination are not used. Simulation studies are carried out for the proposed method and results are compared with the classical DTC. The results show that the torque, current and flux ripple are less to that of classical DTC. The proposed algorithm is implemented using Spartan 3A DSP Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to validate the simulation results.
