Abstract

Torenia siliguriensis A. Pal & M. Chowdhury sp. nova is described from Darjeeling Himalayan foothills in West Bengal, India. It closely resembles T. crustacea, but is clearly distinguishable by its overall smaller size, much smaller, white to purplish-white flowers without a purple spot on central lower lobe, obtuse lower lobes, absence of glandular hairs on lower lobes, and a disc slightly protruding above the ovary base.
