Abstract

The field of toponymy in linguistics can fully reflect national knowledge, culture and folk traditions, socio-political changes and the historical picture. Toponymy is divided into several semantic groups. The scientific article discusses the names of toponyms created on the basis of one of these semantic groups-the names of species-flowers. The names of flowers are found in all areas of linguistics. Thanks to the cognition and perception of the surrounding world, various words, phrases, and symbol words have appeared in linguistics. Including color symbols have a different meaning in each vernacular. Kazakh toponymy, created on the basis of color names, is not only a set of names, but also a system of linguistic units reflecting national cognition. This is due to the fact that the names of flowers express a new meaning in the composition of the toponym and reflect its symbolic properties. The scientific article analyzes the toponyms found in the Abai region, their connection with color names. The semantic and linguistic analysis of the names of land-waters created in such shades as "white, black, blue, brown, red" was carried out. During the analysis, toponyms such as Akbaytal, Akzhal, Akshoky, Aktau, Koksung, Kokzhartas, Karabastaz, Karakol were considered. In accordance with the topic, scientific views and opinions of scientists were taken into account. The symbolic meaning of the names of flowers was shown.
