Abstract

This work proposes a topology optimization method for continuous fiber-reinforced composite (CFRC) structures with additive manufacturing (AM), which realizes the concurrent optimization of material layout and fiber orientation. The residual stress caused by AM process is constrained to avoid the failure of warpage and distortion. The inherent strain method (ISM) is applied to simplify the calculation of residual stress, the Tsai–Wu criterion and P-norm are incorporated to realize structural failure prediction and local constraint aggregation. Several typical instances are adopted to verify the effectiveness of proposed method, which provides a novel solution for the optimization of CFRC structures fabricated by AM.
