Abstract

This article presents a new procedure for the design of dual-band monopole antennas operated in wireless local area network bands. The binary particle swarm optimization and the discrete Green’s function method are combined to achieve proper topology of the antenna without any prior knowledge about the antenna configuration. The discrete Green’s function method is implemented using parallel programming to accelerate the design procedure. Two antennas with symmetric and asymmetric topologies are designed and fabricated. The experimental results show the validity of the design algorithm.
