Abstract

In this introductory invited paper a framework is suggested for discussing the “information revolution” and its impact on appropriate technology transfer. The complex multinational production structure necessitate an increasing percentage of labour force to be employed in the information sector both in industrialized and developing countries. This production structure is supported further by a rapidly advancing information technology. Several macro-informatics models are introduced in the paper to help in understanding our complex, evolving information environment and a cluster of macro-informatics objectives and measures are assembled as important ingredients of efficient technology transfer.
