Abstract

We report behavior of BEC during topological phase imprinting under the influence of a gravitational field. When the gravitational field is perpendicular to the vortex line as in the experiments, the system is no longer axisymmetric and the vortex is not always stable. We solved the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation numerically and found that a stable vortex is produced by fine-tuning the field reverse time.
