Abstract

The problem of the binarization of gray-scale images of texts or, more precisely, the problem of choosing a threshold value, is analyzed. New, previously unpublished algorithms are considered. The main feature of these algorithms is that they take into account the topological features of an image. The results of practical investigations are presented and theoretically justified.
