Abstract

Topological cross sections are reported for $\overline{p}p$ annihilations with 0 to 8 prongs in the region from 0.7 to 1.1 GeV/c. After correction for nonpionic final states the moments of the neutral and charged pion multiplicity distributions are determined at an intermediate energy in this region. We find $〈{n}_{\ensuremath{-}}〉=1.67\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06$, $〈{n}_{0}〉=1.77\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.13$, and correlation coefficients ${f}_{2}^{\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{-}}=\ensuremath{-}1.29\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.12$, ${f}_{2}^{0\ensuremath{-}}=\ensuremath{-}0.30\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.08$. Comparisons are made between these and other experimental results as well as several theoretical models.
