Topological charge in non-abelian lattice gauge theory

Abstract

We report on a numerical calculation of topological charge densities in non-abelian gauge theory with gauge groups SU(2) and SU(3). The group manifold is represented by a discrete subset thereof which lies outside its finite subgroups. The results shed light on the usefulness of these representations in Monte Carlo evaluations of non-abelian lattice gauge theory.
