Abstract

In this chapter the qualitative theory of dynamical systems will be applied to steady two- dimensional viscous flows of continua near fixed and moving boundaries. The topological properties of these flows may be derived from solutions of the governing differential equations. Qualitative considerations about these solutions in the phase plane will be presented with the aim to provide insight into the physics of the flow pattern prior to solving appropriate, initial/boundary value problems.KeywordsFlow PatternSingular PointSaddle PointWall Shear StressPhase PortraitThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
