Abstract

Special features of surface topography of specimens of alloy VT6 after superplastic deformation at 850°C under the conditions of reduced surface evaporation of titanium are analyzed. Marker scratches on grain boundaries are shown to displace as a result of grain boundary sliding, and the distance between markers inside grains is shown to change, which indicates intragrain dislocation sliding. Results of an evaluation of the contribution of these mechanisms into the total strain are discussed.
