Abstract

Tool logistics is expected for economic and just-in-time production, whereas expensive machine tools require instantly available supplies of the right cutting tools. In this context demand for high tool availability is a need to reduce non-productive times by shortening tool`s set-up times. A solution of the tool logistics depends on a level of automation and integration of manufacturing systems. The article presents current state of the tool logistics system established on the intelligent technologies. It applies general solutions in tool logistics system in the Centre of Excellence of 5-axis Machining at Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava. There are described some important processes and equipments for their implementation.
